Chemistry in 3D

Founded in 2024, we are a forward-thinking startup at the forefront of educational innovation. Our mission is to revolutionize the study of chemistry, particularly organic chemistry, by integrating interactive 3D models into learning materials. We believe that by bringing molecules and reactions to life in three dimensions, students can achieve a deeper understanding and appreciation for the complexities of chemistry.

In 2025, we are excited to introduce our flagship product: an extensive textbook that is not just a collection of information, but a fully interactive experience. Leveraging the powerful 3Dmol.js framework, our textbook allows learners to explore and manipulate molecular structures in ways that were previously unimaginable, bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application.

But our vision extends beyond the pages of a textbook. We are committed to supporting academic institutions by providing services that integrate 3D models directly into their chemistry courses. Our team works closely with educators and researchers to customize and implement these tools, enriching the curriculum and empowering students to excel in their studies.

At Chemistry in 3D, we are passionate about promoting not only education but also the advancement of computational organic chemistry. By harnessing the latest in 3D technology, we aim to inspire a new generation of chemists, equipped with the knowledge and tools to push the boundaries of what is possible in the chemical sciences.

Join us on this exciting journey into the third dimension of chemistry education. Together, we can transform how chemistry is taught, learned, and understood.

About the Founder

Dr. Dennis Svatunek is the driving force behind Chemistry in 3D. His journey into the world of chemistry began at TU Wien, Vienna, Austria, where he pursued his studies with a focus on organic chemistry. His academic path led him to further his research as a postdoc at UCLA, where he deepened his expertise and contributed in the field of computational organic chemistry.

Dr. Svatunek's dedication to chemistry has been recognized with several accolades, including the Theodor Körner Prize, an honor awarded in Austria to young researchers who show exceptional promise. His commitment to research is evident from his publication of over 50 peer-reviewed papers, marking a significant contribution to the scientific community.

Beyond research, Dr. Svatunek has devoted over a decade to teaching organic chemistry at university level. His experience in education has not only shaped the minds of future chemists but has also influenced his approach to creating accessible and engaging learning materials.

One of Dr. Svatunek's notable skills is his ability to demystify complex organic chemistry concepts through 3D visualizations. This expertise forms the cornerstone of Chemistry in 3D, aiming to enhance the learning experience by making chemistry more interactive and understandable.

With a background marked by solid research and a genuine passion for teaching, Dr. Svatunek leads Chemistry in 3D with the goal of making advanced chemistry concepts more accessible to students and educators alike. It's this blend of knowledge and innovation that guides our mission to transform chemistry education for the better.

Our Technology in Action

A testament to our technology's impact is its adoption in the Organic Chemistry I lecture at TU Wien, one of the leading technical universities in Vienna, Austria.

This collaboration marks a significant milestone for us and for the students of TU Wien. By integrating our interactive 3D models into their curriculum, the Organic Chemistry I lecture has been transformed into a more engaging and immersive learning experience. Our technology allows students to visualize complex molecular structures in three dimensions, making it easier to comprehend the intricacies of organic chemistry.

The use of our 3D models at TU Wien is a prime example of how modern technology can be applied to traditional education, bridging the gap between complex concepts and student understanding. It's a step forward in our mission to make chemistry more accessible and enjoyable for students, providing them with the tools they need to succeed in their studies.

We're proud to see our technology in use and look forward to expanding our reach, helping more educators and students experience the benefits of learning chemistry in 3D.
